Unspoken Magic with Every Stroke

Meet Ingrid

Ingrid Todea, at just 14 years old, has been expressing herself through art for 11 years. This passion, which began at a very young age, has only been honed over time. Her joy in expressing herself on paper has remained constant, her talent manifesting not in reproduction, but in creation. The pencil and color are her tools, the means through which she creates new visions and stories. Her art is a conduit for emotions, journeys, and stories to take on new dimensions.

Her childhood works are characterized by movement and detail, unfolding stories that, when rearranged, can create entirely new narratives. Her recent works, however, are imbued with feeling, turbocharged by the thoughts, questions, and restlessness of adolescence. These details are carefully crafted to project these emotions, designed to awaken a unique response in the eyes of each viewer. Currently, she feels most at home with a pencil in her hand, the shadows and shapes she brings forth from it are infinite, and the lead sprinkles magic onto the paper beneath her hand. HerĀ  exhibition, Unspoken, debuted on March 3 2020, is a tribute, first and foremost, to the pencil.

The exhibition is titled “Unspoken” because Ingrid wanted viewers to forget about words for a few moments when they look at her works. She encourages viewers to exercise their imagination, to explore deep within themselves, to find something new, something they like or dislike, something that makes them think differently or enjoy a rediscovery.

Each exhibited work represents a turmoil that has found resolution. The titles, ranging from Time, Life, Art, The Kiss, Unspoken Love, Cancer, Dyslexia, to The Embryo, each hide questions, bewilderments, feelings, fears, which she had the courage to confront, face, and dialogue with before putting them on paper. Ingrid is a brave creator, one who listens to herself, her instincts, and has the courage to express exactly what she feels.

Ingrid’s Art is the culmination of an important moment in her artistic evolution – it is innate talent brought to maximum refinement by the hands and mind of a child. It represents the unbridled courage and maximum freedom with which she was born, which she felt, was not scared of, but rather embraced, and together with them, she CREATED.
